No, I don't expect anyone to actually want to read this, but I'm putting it up anyway so I can at least show I've been doing something over the summer. Even if it's an incredibly dull something.

Over the past few millennia, humanity has made a successful enterprise of traversing the globe, thriving in even nature's most inhospitable environments, conquering even the largest of natural predators, and then promptly succumbing to lifeforms that can fit by the thousands on the tip of a pin. Primarily these consist of bacteria and viruses.
Bacteria make up an entire domain, Eubacteria. Due to their small size and rapid reproduction,

They let the fire die before anyone dared to move. Even with the darkness closing in, it was a relief to be free from prying eyes. Even better, the forced conversations could stop. Far better than talking about the weather or exchanging how-are-you's for the umpteenth time, wondering if such a shallow ruse really would fool anyone. Awkward situations like that were a fate slightly worse than death. Even in different circumstances silence would have been welcome. No one had told them – not that they could, what with the language barrier – but everyone there knew that Ama was marked for depopulation. It was the only expl

Raposa Pass-It-On Chapter 14
The nurse opens the closet door. Blinks. He pauses for a moment to take in the situation, sipping at his coffee, while I stare up like a deer caught in headlights. I edge back and trip over a mop.
"Go on," he says, gesturing outside.
I stare. "Really? Um, thanks." I grab Sock's corpse in my arms and half-run, half-stagger away. He's weighing me down, but it feels wrong to just leave him face down in a broom closet.
The nurse murmured something barely audible beneath the thudding of my feet, then, when nothing happens, raises his voice. "Guards!" Already sirens begin to blare. Damn damn damn, why did I trust him why why why . They
He never leaves. Oh, sure, he's quiet most of the time. If I'm at school or eating, or asleep, he leaves me alone. But he's nearby even when I'm not paying attention to him. Still, I decide that today I'm officially sick of him. I'll write whether he likes it or not. Take that. Just as the pen touches the paper, the black lab pads in. He looks left, right, then transforms. Then he continues to saunter towards me, confidence radiating from every step. He's in his late teens, wearing a well-fitting Hollister shirt and ripped jeans; his hair, a natural raven black, is tousled but controlled. Handsome. He's the kind of kid who would quickly beco
"You're not going." She turned away, popped the tab on another beer. Obviously she wasn't going to argue this out. If I came back later, though, there would be no guarantee she'd still be sober. I thought for a moment, keeping half an eye on my little brother. I couldn't lose my temper in front of him.
"Mom, please. It's not like I'll be alone. RISD's opening up in a few weeks, and I'll be here until then. I'll stay safe. Besides, I'll be making something of myself. I might be the next Picasso or" She snorted before I could finish. "Mom, I'm leaving whether you like it or not." It sounded wrong even as I said it.

Chaos must come before there is peace
The bullets must sound before they can cease
For tears to dry, first they must flow
And there must be rain before the rainbow
The quarrel must start before it can end
A heart must break before it can mend
The leaves must fall before they regrow
And there must be rain before the rainbow
There will be failure before there's success
You will get more after there's less
The candle must flicker before it can glow
And there must be rain before the rainbow
The darkness will help you to reach the light
Because the wrong will cause the right
Life can be hard, but make sure you know:

Roads Not Traveled
I am young and do not understand the world beyond my driveway. I have yet to step foot on sidewalks just past lines that are far too wide for my legs to cross over in one bound. Yet to see life from beyond my bedroom widow, covered with homemade curtains that only stay there because they collect dust far better than any swiffer duster ever could.
So do not ask me to write about streets I have yet to walk to upon and road I haven't traveled yet.
Because I cannot write about the boy that brought heartache, nor the empty spaces between bed sheets and fingers and heartbeats. I cannot write about addiction that leaves bones shivering in skin, fi

I'm a writer. I have been writing a book for several years and have started posting it on dA. I will never delete anything from my gallery, no matter how much it embarrasses me. And if I've met you in real life, you can call me Ducky.
Also: I'm having a bit of an art block, so I'm going to say that REQUESTS ARE OPEN for poems and short stories (1000 word max for the latter).
Well, to be precise, me.
My computer has wiped the second version of my story from existence, or at the very least, has locked it away forever until I figure out how to fix it.
Not a complete apocalypse, since the third version of my story (don't ask) is safe. I just won't be able to post the thing I need to post until I can get to a USB or something, which hopefully will get around the whole "won't let me open the file" thing.
All two of the people who watch me will have to wait a few days.
This is the least apocalypse-y apocalypse ever. :(
Also I've gotten around the no-skins for non-premium users thing by just editing the one I made
They found the Higgs Boson yesterday. July 4th, 2012. This. Is. Awesome.
Go check it out.
Congrats to the research team involved.
